DRILL, BABY, DRILL?
TOn January 20, 2025, at 4:30 pm, we will meet at Hilmgasse 4/1 in SR 129.11 aswell as online for a round table discussing the implication of Trump's return tothe White House for climate research & climate policy. There will be shortcontributions by Birgit Bednar-Friedl, Michael Finus, Anja Karnein, GottfriedKirchengast, Lukas Meyer, Kian Mintz-Woo, Laura Garcia Portela, Karl Steininger,Harald Stelzer, and Santiago Truccone-Borgogno. After the event, there will alsobe a small get-together with snacks, where we can continue to discuss the topicat hand. The following questions will be our starting point:
1. Should the direction of research regarding climate change change in light of Trump's presidency and proposed policies?
2. Do the strategies of coping with climate change have to beadapted to a new political environment and change accordingly?
3. Will the role academics working in the area of climate changeassume have to change in the wake of Trump's presidency? Willthey have to assume a more activist position?
