Anke Strüver ist Professorin für Humangeographie, Schwerpunkt Stadtforschung an der Universität Graz und Leiterin des RCE (Regional Centre of Expertise Graz-Styria) sowie Vizedekanin für Forschung der URBI Fakultät. Als etablierte Humangeographin mit dem langjährigen Schwerpunkt auf urbane Mensch-Umwelt-Beziehungen hat sie sich in den letzten fünf Jahren mit den sozialökologischen Dimensionen der urbanen Nachhaltigkeitstransformation auseinandergesetzt und diese anhand verschiedener Themenfelder (v.a. Digitalisierung, Ernährung, Gesundheit und aktiver Mobilität) bearbeitet. Ihre auf die mit den Folgen des Klimawandels verbundenen Risiken sowie auf die politische Mikroebene einer nachhaltigen Stadtentwicklung – hier verstanden als sozial gerecht sowie ökologisch und ökonomisch ressourcenschonend – sozialwissenschaftliche Perspektive bieten eine wichtige Ergänzung für Climate Change Graz gerade auch im Hinblick auf den Klimaschutz im Alltagsleben. Das von ihr geleitete RCE ist auf Projekte in Hinblick auf alltagsnahe Aspekte der Nachhaltigkeitstransformation in lokalen und regionalen Dimensionen spezialisiert und besonders an urbanen Partizipations- und Kollaborationsprozessen interessiert. Anke Strüver ist auch UniNEtZ SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Leiterin für SDG 11, welches für eine inklusive, sichere, widerstandsfähige und nachhaltige Gestaltung von Städten und Siedlungen steht.
