DISTENDER
DevelopIng STratEgies by integrating mitigatioN, aDaptation and participation to climate changE Risks
Duration: 01.06.2022 - 30.06.2025 Sponsor: EU (European Commission).
The objective of DISTENDER is to establish a methodological framework that supports climate adaptation and mitigation strategies that integrate top-down and bottom-up approaches in a multi-sectoral framework (agriculture, health and well-being, energy, water, biodiversity, forestry, transport, and urban planning) and use this framework to explore the interactions of climate adaptation and mitigation actions at multiple scales. The methodology will be tested in a number of different case studies and will be supported by a high level of stakeholder participation and integration with those responsible for implementing the policies and those affected by their implementation. This will help provide a framework for robust adaptation and mitigation actions based on a systemic understanding of the synergies and trade-offs of potential strategies. DISTENDER results will be integrated into a DSS to provide stakeholders with a common platform for developing EU data-driven mitigation and adaptation strategies using participatory processes.
