On December 6, 2022, the first Fellows Day of the Field of Excellence Climate Change Graz took place. The first post-doctoral fellows discussed their research and the ways in which their respective fields can benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration.
The current debate on climate damages and losses makes it clear that coping with the multiple impacts of climate change is a challenge that requires joint efforts of scientists and practitioners. The scientific contribution is not limited to the natural sciences, which enable quantification of future climate developments, impacts and risks. Political scientists and economists are called upon to develop practicable political goals and action plans based on these scientific findings and to accompany their implementation. At the same time, possible measures, impacts and risks must also be evaluated, which in turn opens up scientific research in the direction of practical philosophy.
