The presentation by Univ.-Prof. Elizabeth Valdés-Miranda Fernández will examine how international climate and energy law operates within a structurally unequal global system. It will highlight the gap between formal legal obligations and the material capacity of states to implement them, using the Cuban case as an illustrative example. The discussion will also address the global energy transition, which—while legally structured—remains uneven in practice due to financing, technological, and institutional constraints.

Der 14. WOHNBAU.DIALOG STEIERMARK findet am 11.05.2026 von 15:00 bis 17:00 Uhr im Haus der Architektur Graz statt und beschäftigt sich mit den gesellschaftspolitischen Rahmenbedingungen von gemeinschaftlichem Bauen und Wohnen in Österreich. Zunächst werden in drei Impulsvorträgen Ergebnisse aus einem dreijährigen Forschungsprojekt präsentiert. Dabei werden die Entwicklung und Verbreitung gemeinschaftlicher Wohnprojekte, sowie Potentiale für deren Umsetzung und Maßnahmen zu ihrer Unterstützung thematisiert. Diese Aspekte werden im anschließenden Workshopteil im Austausch zwischen Verwaltung, Politik, Planung, Forschung, Projektentwicklung, Baugruppeninteressierten und allen, die sich mit neuen Wohnformen beschäftigen, diskutiert.

“A Relational World?” is a three-day interdisciplinary festival/conference organized by the Department of Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology, the Centre for Intermediality Studies in Graz (CIMIG) and the Botanical Garden (Institute for Biology), University of Graz. Each keynote presentation will offer something very different: readings from a book of Baniwa myth, ritual and memory by Francy Baniwa; a performative presentation and conversation between Courtney E. Mohler and Randy Reinholz; a curated walk in the Styrian Sculture park with Dylan Robinson; an interactive talk about Butoh and chronic pain with Paola Esposito; Jessica Hiscox and members of the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Group who will give a workshop on Māori relational ecology; and finally a talk by Gabriele Berg about how microbiomes are crucial to solving global crises.
