FFG and partner organisations cordially invite to their series of short online talks sharing the practical experiences of scientists and entrepreneurs with transferring results from basic research projects. The sessions put the spotlight on the ERC Proof of Concept Grant as well as the EIC Pathfinder and Transition Instrument from the perspective of various scientific fields. Guests are Katalin Barta Weissert, professor for Chemistry at the University of Graz, CSO & Co-Founder of PureSurf FlexCo, and Markus Hochegger-Krawanja, CEO & Co-Founder PureSurf FlexCo, who will talk about their insights and learnings in the context of his EIC Transition project PureSurf : Bio-based surfactants from renewable waste streams for the circular economy, stemming from the ERC Proof of Concept Grant PURE : Prototyping emerging bio-based products from lignocellulose by zero-waste pathways.

Living Labs have become a key approach for addressing complex challenges in climate change and sustainability research by fostering collaboration between science, society, and practice. This interactive workshop explores how Living Labs work in practice and how they can be successfully designed and implemented in transdisciplinary research settings.
Through expert impulses and interactive discussion formats, participants will gain a deeper understanding of core Living Lab principles, practical implementation strategies, and critical success factors. The workshop offers space for exchange and discussion, enabling participants to reflect on their own research and practice and develop ideas on how to apply the Living Lab approach in their specific contexts.

The 2026 motto is “Cool Solutions at the Workplace”, highlighting the daily heat-related burdens faced by employees and encouraging the joint development of strategies to better protect this target group. Ways to actively participate:
- Plan an activity around 9 June 2026 (e.g. public engagement activities, workshops, webinars, etc.)
- Publish resources on heat and climate change on the website of the Hitzeaktionstag (please contact heide.spitzer@ccca.ac.at)
